• Hortencia

    Hortencia

Hortencia is like the energizer bunny.  She keeps going and going and going!!  Her days are filled with finding new ways to help those in need.  Each evening she heads to a designated area in Acuna, Mexico to work with children.  It might be a street corner or a park, but wherever it is, the kids know she will be there.  She is greeted with shouts of  “hermana, hermana” as she arrives.  She brings God’s Word to the children at each location.  Activities begin with prayer, then some songs, a Bible verse, a Bible lesson, a Bible craft, a snack and then the children recite the Bible verse, from memory.

    Paul and Pat

Paul and Pat have known Hortencia and worked with her for over 20 years.  For 3 years, they lived in Del Rio, Texas and worked with Hortencia on a daily basis.  Although, now back in Florida, Paul and Pat continue to work with Hortencia.  Whether communicating by phone or visiting Acuna on a mission trip, Paul and Pat treasure the relationship God has given them with Hortencia and  the work in Mexico! Throughout their time back in Florida, they have worked to create Cord Ministries, a non-profit, tax exempt organization. They love to share with churches, organizations and people about the work in Mexico.

    Modesta

Modesta is a wonderful Christian woman who loves children.  She has a home in Acuna in the Tierra Esperanza colonia.  When she’s in Acuna, she always helps Hortencia.  She often travels to Torreon and stays with her son.   While in Torreon, she teaches children about God.  Whether in the open area at her son’s house or on a street corner, you’ll find Modesta busy teaching the children.  She even travels across town–nearly 2 hours by bus, carrying her Bible, lessons for the children and a boombox to meet children on a street corner.    Recently, Hortencia visited Modesta in Torreon.  The children came and didn’t want to leave….for hours and hours, the children sat and learned about Jesus.
